Mark 4:14

14 The sower sows the word [of God, the good news regarding the way of salvation].

If you are like me, probably when you think of the parable of the sower you think of it in terms of those who accept the word of God and accept Him as Lord and savior verses those who reject that word and thus they don’t embrace Jesus as Lord and savior. Now that is true but let’s take a look at it from another perspective. Every Sunday we flock our churches and the word of God is preached.

The question for those of us already born again is this;

“What kind of soil are you in regards to the word you heard in church last Sunday?”

Are you the path? Can you remember that word or has it been stolen from your heart by the birds?

Maybe you are the rocky ground and the seed of the word begun to germinate but issues have come up since Sunday and already chocked the word.

Have the thorns chocked the word or are you the good soil and you have embraced the word declaring it over your life and actually living it out waiting to see the fruit.

Are you sowing the word of God or the word of men?

2 Timothy 4:3 (AMP)

3 For the time will come when people will not tolerate sound doctrine and accurate instruction [that challenges them with God’s truth]; but wanting to have their ears tickled [with something pleasing], they will accumulate for themselves [many] teachers [one after another, chosen] to satisfy their own desires and to support the errors they hold,

We are living in the days talked about in the above scripture where sound doctrine and accurate instruction are not being accepted by some but instead their itchy ears lead them astray. Instead of hearing and sowing the word of God, they end up embracing and sowing the words and doctrines of men and the fruit they reap is disastrous. Jesus told us we would know them by their fruit simply because what you sow is what you reap. If you sow the word of God in your life then the fruit of the Spirit is what you will reap for Jesus is the word and He said that His words are Spirit and truth.

In numbers 13 God gave the children of Israel a word and 12 men go in to spy the land but when they come back to report to the people they come with a bad report (Except for 2 of them) which they sow among the people and it breeds fear. The fruit of believing the words of men instead of God’s word makes the children of Israel wonder in the wilderness until that whole generation dies off not making it to the Promised Land except for the two who had a good report.

As the song says, whose report will you believe? Will you sow the word of God or the words of men? Remember you have to hear the word and walk in it then you will see the fruit in your life.
